Tricia D. Goostree has known since the age of ten that she wanted to be an attorney. That certainty was confirmed during her undergraduate years at Eastern Illinois University, where she was selected for the mock trial team and found that litigation suited her in every way she had hoped.

Tricia earned a Dean’s Scholarship to the John Marshall Law School, where she won the Dean Fred F. Herzog Moot Court Competition, earned a Moot Court Executive Board scholarship, and competed in regional and interstate moot court competitions. Law school sharpened the written advocacy skills that, combined with her courtroom instincts, would come to define her practice.

While in law school, Tricia interned with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in the consumer fraud division and served as a Supreme Court Rule 711 clerk for the Chicago Legal Clinic. It was at the Chicago Legal Clinic that her commitment to family law took root — assisting clients with divorces, Orders of Protection, and child support enforcement while making regular appearances in the Cook County Domestic Relations division. After two years building her foundation in Cook County, she expanded her practice to Kane, DuPage, Kendall, and DeKalb counties, earning a reputation for excellence among judges and opposing counsel alike.

Since 2002, Tricia’s practice has been exclusively devoted to family law and domestic relations. Her work encompasses the full spectrum of family law matters, including complex financial litigation, maintenance, contested custody disputes, and appellate proceedings. For more than two decades, she has represented clients with zealousness, integrity, and compassion — whether navigating difficult settlement negotiations or standing before the court. Tricia thrives in the courtroom and is at her best when the legal questions are hardest and the stakes are highest. As someone who grew up in a small town and moved to Chicago to pursue her dream, she has a genuine ability to connect with clients from every walk of life.

Tricia’s dedication extends well beyond her caseload. She served four years on the board of directors of Prairie State Legal Services, volunteered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and provided pro bono legal services to those in need. She served the Kane County Bar Association & Foundation as high school mock trial coordinator for three years, chaired the Association’s Admissions and Membership Committee, and served on its Public Relations Committee. A sought-after speaker, she has presented at multiple continuing legal education seminars.

Tricia’s professional achievements have been widely recognized. In 2005, she received the only “Rising Star” award ever presented by the Kane County Family Law Committee. She has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer for twelve consecutive years and has been recognized as an Illinois Leading Lawyer every year since 2015. Since 2019, she has also been honored as a Best Lawyer.

Tricia is the founder and managing partner of Goostree Law Group, P.C., located in St. Charles, Illinois. Outside the office, she is an avid baseball fan, a competitive bodybuilder, and an enthusiastic traveler who loves exploring new destinations with her husband.
